Surviving The Night With New Friends

You know, I rarely build with strangers.  The reason is because I never know their intentions. You get out there in the Planet of Cubes, you start working on a project and they stab you in the back, literally.

Planet of Cubes Surviver players will enjoy this cause they know the struggle is real out there! However, this time around I had a great time forming up a place to survive the night with Leader of da wae seth.  Working the woods is great way to get through Multiplayer Survival. Here's usually how I play it:

1. Gather as much soil and sand as possible. I say those cause they're faster to get even without a weapon.

2. Wherever you are, set up camp. DON'T WAIT until the sun starts to set to do this. You'll be fighting everyone and everything.

3. Grab a torch when you see one. You'll need the light. The Planet of Cubes has torches everywhere, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Right here we're working on a quick fortress. They had different ideas and that's ok.
It may seem crazy, but you want to keep raw materials on you at all times in planet of cubes multiplayer survival.
Evening has set, that means it's time to hunker down and sit out the night. I don't have much but this axe, but it does the job.
Here's my buddy helping out - he did a good job!

What cool things have you built with your friends??? Comment below!!!!

Monsters Ball in survival mode

Monsters Ball, Monsters Ball photo, planet of cubes game, planet of cubes

I had just entered survival mode in Planet of Cubes when I see this Party of monsters down below. It was too funny. The house on the right was the target apparently, but they gave up and started to have a fit.
I was surprised they didn't get me but I may have been too far away. A Monster's Ball? That's first thing I thought. Just a bunch of monsters having a backyard party!

Portal Jumping in the New Year

When you're portal jumping, anything is possible.

Portal jumping in Planet of Cubes Survival Multiplayer can be fun, but also terrifying.

You know, it's already pretty rare that I go too far off the base map because you guess it - I have NO PROTECTION (haha). So today in light of the New Year I thought why not? Let's take a portal jump. The photo above shows one of those jumps I took through the portal. Looks great doesn't it? Very nice scenery -

Travel further down the rabbit hole and you've got this: Spiders and Skeletons shooting at you. I was done.  Not gonna lie to ya - that caught me off guard. So I did what any Planet of Cubes player would do in a situation that you're not prepped for - craft fast, find a hole, and barricade yourself! In the photo on the left you can see that I only had a wooden hoe and a dream to hold on to. Needless to say I was killed by a spider and and soon I will have my revenge.

I think the biggest issue I'm having right now is the fact I'm not defending myself very well. Longest time out in the Surivor mode? Two days. Usually I forget what time it is and get caught up in the Zombie Apocalypse at night. Have you SEEN HOW MANY COME OUT? CRAZY!

Greek Mythology: The Centaur of Avatar Island

Avatar Island is proving to be a very interesting place.

For the past three days I've been touring the island and have found some interesting sights, but nothing like the picture above. The Centaur caught me completely off guard.

Now, for those who don't know what a Centaur is, I will give you the crash course in Greek Mythology: Centaurs, according to Greek mythology, were said to be the offspring of Ixion, son of Ares, and a cloud. These strange creatures had the head arms and chest of a man but the legs and lower half of a horse. These Man-Horse beasts lived in Thessaly, fed on meat and were given to riotous revelries. They came to symbolize the dark, unruly forces of nature. They were usually depicted as drunken followers of Dionysus, except for Cheiron who was the tutor to several heroes.

And now you've had your mythology course for the day. So if you're ever in that part of the Island, stop by and grab a selfie with it - as you can see, someone made sure he'd be ready to smile for the camera.

Find this Week's Travel Bug! (Week of 7.30.15)

Geocaching on The Planet of Cubes - This week's travel bug is an easy one: Here's a hint:

In the arena of great Roman matches, where gladiators were born, and where fire and TNT now reside, the bug is on fire.

Coordinates
-21: -78

And as always look for the scarab:
What is Geocaching? Geocaching, also referred to as GPS stash hunting, is a recreational activity in which someone "buries" something for others to try to find using a Global Positioning System ( GPS ) receiver. The pursuit can be thought of as a GPS-enabled treasure hunt. Usually, a geocache consists of a small, waterproof container that holds a logbook and inexpensive trinkets. Participants are called geocachers. For POC Players, I simply post the coordinates and you find the Bug! Very easy! No GPS tools needed LOL!

Exploring the Caves of Machu Picchu

Carved into dun-colored cliffs, hundreds of man-made caves situated next to empty niches that once sheltered giant Buddha statues destroyed by the Taliban are home to Bamiyan's poverty-stricken who have nowhere else to go.
Venturing the Caves of Machu Picchu begins in brief darkness. And for a moment you think there's nothing until you see the rocks. Most caves can be seen in the daytime and with enough light around at night.

Change may come to ice caves after fatal collapse Ice Caves after a collapse killed a woman earlier this month. A crucial phone line may be on the way. On July 6, Thomas Hoffman was the first to call 911. However, it was a 45 minute ordeal for him to make that call. “We went down the trail, stopping by every group coming up seeing if they had cellular reception,” He said. “Nobody did.” Eventually Hoffman hopped in the car and raced in search of cell reception. Before he got any bars, he came across a land line at the Verlot Ranger Station about 15 miles from the caves. It was 40 to 45 minutes after he first set out to get help. Hoffman has heard talk about perhaps shutting down the ice caves following this most recent fatal collapse. He hopes a proposed plan by the Forest Service to install a new land line about five miles from the caves at the Silverton campground will prevent them from closing. “A phone seems like a fantastic compromise if we can get it pretty close to the,” Hoffman said.
Turning around you can see from beyond the waterfall.

Tree of Life area full of surprises

Tree of Life area on Planet of Cubes was a pleasant surprise. If you're looking for that city feel that has a rural setting, this is the area for you. I was surprised to find this windmill in the area, which was very cool. Walking around the area you could tell some user construction had started, but nothing really big, which means there's a great deal of land to be used!

Of course my biggest find of the day was this police helicopter that was perched on his pad. I hope one day I'll get a chance to fly one of these around, you can never tell what's next in POC. Awesome surprises around every corner!

And finally, back to my original mission of the night: A Group photo for this blog. I was surprised at how difficult that was- You'd think people would jump at the opportunity to get seen to gain more friends and be a little popular in Planet of Cubes, but that wasn't the case - However, big thanks to Mr. Awesome Guy for being a great sport. He was building a house when we talked. So if you see him anywhere on the planet, let him know that he's a celebrity now haha. Hopefully he'll be cool with that.

Church destroyed by user

Church fires are not cool! READ: A Rochester man is facing arson charges in connection with a fire that destroyed an historic church on West Main Street in Rochester. Thomas William Ryhal, 44, is charged with third-degree arson. More than 60 firefighters were called to Bibleway Healing Temple (the former Westminster Presbyterian Church) in the early morning hours of June 26 for the structure fire. On the scene of the fire, the battalion chief told us church fires are difficult to fight. Chief Chris Peer said, "Just large open areas, fire travels fast, consumes a lot. It gets hot and takes a lot of water to put it out." We spoke with developer Marvin Maye who was also on the scene, watching the church burn. In the past, he has struggled with preservationists who wanted him to spend $3-million dollars renovating the church instead of demolishing it to build a Dollar Store or grocery store.
(-215 : -79)--So I was trying to build a church in Comfort City when this guy shows up and just trolls the hell out of me. He didn't say nothing, he just started throwing blocks down everywhere. Next he lit the whole green area aflame with lava and TNT and zoomed off. People, if you can't respect the creations of others it only comes back to you worse than you gave it out. It was unfortunate cause like many people, I spent some time building and to see my view ruined is bad. We can almost see why you rarely see creations inside the city limits because no one wants their stuff griefed to oblivion.

Island Mysteries

Because I'm a lover of good mysteries, if you venture out onto the smaller islands in Planet of Cubes, you'll come across things like this: A Giant Girl, and random words.  What I'm beginning to discover as I travel around this world is that there were many players who designed various things and for whatever reason just left them.

It could be attrition - the fact they may have moved on to different things, or maybe they're somewhere else on the board making more statues and words. Needless to say this mystery left me looking all over, wondering what "Close" was in reference to, and if the giant girl had any relatives standing nearby.
If you're looking for places to focus all of your attention onto good sunsets and wonderful nights, consider the outer, more smaller islands. I was definitely surprised at what I found, and it made for an enjoyable gaming experience. The opportunity for adventure is indeed infinite, and who knows, maybe I'll come across your Planet of Cubes creation one day - only time will tell.

But if you do have one, leave me your coordinates in the comments below and I'll go check it out! It would be my pleasure!

Stargazing on Planet of Cubes

#nasa #pluto #plutoflyby #newhorizons #solarsystem #nasabeyond #science - Nasa's New Horizons spacecraft has begun beaming back photographs of the surface of Pluto as it approaches. The probe was less than 2.5m km from the 2,300km-wide dwarf planet on Saturday and by Tuesday, it will be taking pictures from an altitude of just 12,500km. The newly published image shows the planet's hemisphere that will soon rotate out of view
I think I saw Pluto in Planet of Cubes yesterday. No, no I didn't lol but it would have been cool - Nonetheless this is one of the great sights you can see while stargazing and if you look real hard you might even find a constellation in there somewhere right? I'm sure at least one of them match a formation in that cluster of stars. But be sure to subscribe to this blog and keep up with my latest travels.

Planet of Cubes: Who built these statues?

Travel below the Colosseum and Machu Picchu and you come across an area south of -2: -117 that's just unique in its own way. How is it unique beyond anything else you see in Planet of Cubes? The statues.

I'm not going to lie, I was a little startled when I first saw them. They stand mysterious. It's like they're the Stonehenge of the game. This area is barren, yet clear and has more than enough space to really build without a lot of objects in the way.  I think this is what makes Planet of Cubes such a unique Sandbox game. You come across these creations, you don't know who the creators were, and you'll probably never meet them. And if you do, simply say, "nice". Because it is some fantastic art south of the border.

The entire area seemed to be this art gallery full of statues. I even think I saw a Griffin down there.

Does anyone still go down there? Yes. I did see one user in the area building. I didn't get a chance to talk to him because he or she was building away in the area, and I didn't want to disturb them. There were a few messages on the ground written in blocks, and it seemed like many of the areas were partially built and then left to fend for itself. Creepy in a way, adding the statues in the area.

So if you ever find yourself down that way, be sure to check them out. They are indeed a wonderful sight.
